How do you drill through stainless steel and titanium?

OSG has added 8D sizes to its EXOCARB ADO-SUS series, the premium line of solid carbide high-performance drills. The highly popular drills feature coolant technology and engineered designs to work with difficult-to-machine materials such as titanium and stainless steels.

Stainless steels and titanium alloys are notorious for generating all sorts of common problems such as work-hardening, elongation of cutting chips, welding and poor thermal conductivity. Through the ADO-SUS series, OSG has come up with a new flute geometry that accentuates sharp edges to reduce work-hardening, which in turn results in in longer tool life for reaming and tapping. In addition to longer tool life, these drills are made to generate small chips, keep heat down while drilling and effectively resist welding.

Wavy/Flute Form – OSG’s ADO drills have a wavy point form that break chips into small manageable pieces. The wide flute room also facilitates stable chip evacuation.

Oil Hole Design – The “Mega Cooler” is a coolant hole shape that improves coolant flow. The system is designed especially for diameter sizes larger than 6mm in 3D and 5D to keep heat down and ease smooth chip evacuation.

OSG’s WXL Coating – This proprietary nano coating technology provides drastically higher coating oxidation temperature and hardness that dramatically improves wear resistance against welding.
